Wedding Update 10/10/24 7:00 pm
Just arrived in Sparta. Roads are good, town has gas and groceries. 0 sign of any damage anywhere, none. All is good. We verified roads to the two below houses and drove all around. We are good, no special concerns. Posted pictures of roads below.
NOTE - If coming through Charlotte, we saved a lot of time by taking the express lane due to back ups. No idea what the bill will be but they bill by plate so suspect toll cost plus some charge for mailing us a bill.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
* Michelle and I will arrive on 10/10 and update everyone. I will also post some pictures on 10/11 in AM.
* For those staying at Blue Ridge Private Home, Note that Blue Ridge Parkway is closed. We drove to both houses and Google will properly route you to homes. Home has a semi steep dirt road but we drove up no problem.
We having hiking trails right on the property (90 acres). Let us know if you want to stop by...
* For those staying at Secret Farm House, there are not any road closures impacting you, we drove the route. Google gets you to property no problem. We could not get all the way to house as the entrance road has no tresspassing sign and we dont have property until 12th but sure all is good. Road in great condition (is gravel road to house)
* Please allow extra time to get to venue.
Venue Winter Wood Farm

We have switched Venues. The new Venue is Winter Wood Farms. It is about 60 miles east of Boone.
Update - Wedding schedule is same as it was previously.
Ceremony is at 4:00PM Eastern on Sunday October 13.

The only road I see in the area that is closed is Blue Ridge Parkway. We drove all around town and all was good today, gas, groceries, restaurants all open.
UPDATED 10/7 - For the entire county, about 1% of the 9,835 homes and businesses in Alleghany County remain without power as of Monday. Phone service has been restored. Both homes reserved for guests have power, water, sewer and are fully accessible. Blue Ridge Parkway is only road that is closed for repairs and there are alternative routes.

Roads in Sparta, NC appear to be much better than Boone and Banner Elk, NC. We will be there on 10th of October and will provide an update. DriveNC.Gov
Housing
We have decided to rent houses and cover the cost for our guests below. We know some of you have non-refundable payments made and hopefully this will help you with the change in Venues. We really appreciate that you have made all the efforts to come and we want this to be a memorable experience for good reasons. Thank you for your understanding.
